In December 2012 UAB Elsis signed an agreement with the “EADS Deutschland GmbH” and became one of the consortium members implementing the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) Programme. The project will be carried out together with UAB Elsis PRO.
By signing the agreement with EADS, which is the world‘s leading company in the areas of aerospace, defence and security, UAB Elsis joined the team implementing NATO AGS Programme, the value of which is EUR 1.2 billion. Elsis group of companies will perform the works of software design and development that are planned till 2017.
According to Arūnas Gedvila, General Director of UAB Elsis, this project is an international recognition of the company.
“A possibility to work in an international project together with NATO is a great appreciation and responsibility. We proved by working hard that we are able to work at the top level. This is a pleasant challenge to our employees, who will expand the level of their competence”- said Arūnas Gedvila.
The NATO AGS Core System scheduled to be launched in 2017 with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) will enable near–real-time persistent surveillance over wide areas using advanced radar sensors. The AGS will also contribute to the missions of peace-keeping, maritime and humanitarian relief.
Works to be performed by UAB Elsis and Elsis PRO are related to software development, which includes a full scope of activities, from the specification of requirements to the realization thereof and integration into the overall AGS system.
Together with Lithuania, such countries as Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and the USA will take part in the project.
