The Novian IT services group’s company Norway Registers Development Rwanda Ltd. (NRD Rwanda) has changed its name and will now operate as Novian Rwanda. The change reflects the company’s ownership by the Novian group and its representation of the group, especially in the area of IT infrastructure services. Novian Rwanda joined the group in the spring of 2023 when it was acquired by Novian Technologies.
“Together with Novian Rwanda, we’re continuing our work in the countries of Africa, where in recent years we’ve been working on GovTech and climate change projects. This region has big potential for growth and digitalization, especially under World Bank programmes. So, we expect to be able to continue contributing to this development,” says Gytis Umantas, the CEO of Novian Technologies.
He says that Novian Technologies has been doing projects in Africa for over 10 years and working with Novian Rwanda allows it to explore digitalization opportunities relevant to this market even more actively. “Operating under one name, we’ll be able to bring them to potential clients more coherently,” the CEO notes.
Novian Technologies’ competencies include the creation, maintenance and adaptation of IT infrastructure to new needs, as well as critical IT infrastructure maintenance. The company has a strong focus on open source cloud technologies, high-performance computing devices, and the digitization and archiving of documents.
In Africa, Novian Technologies has strong experience working with the National Bank of Rwanda, the Rwanda Revenue Authority and the Rwanda Development Board. The company has modernised the IT infrastructure at the central bank of Burundi, implemented projects related to the IT infrastructure of the information exchange platform of the East African Community’s Bureau of Standards, and participated in projects in the region funded by the World Bank, TradeMark Africa and other organizations.
Novian Technologies is also active in the provision of solutions related to climate monitoring and change. It has deployed high performance computing (HPC) solutions at the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and in 16 countries of Southern Africa, in partnership with the Climate Services Centre of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The Novian group’s companies had revenue of EUR 2.5 million in Africa in 2023 and EUR 1.3 million in 2022. Novian Rwanda was established in 2016.
