As technology evolves, system requirements need to change – not only in terms of functionality but also in terms of IT security and reliability. Therefore, Microsoft announced changes to the Office 365 system requirements for Office clients, effective year 2020.
Effective October 13th, 2020, Office 365 Online will only allow Office client connectivity from clients with up-to-date Office packages. This means that if you are using legacy Office application package that is no longer supported or will be no longer supported effective 13th October 2020, your Office desktop client applications, such as Outlook, OneDrive and Skype for Business clients will not connect to Office 365 services.

What are the upgrade options for Office:

First of all, this is a good time to review your long-term strategy and prepare to renew your IT infrastructure, accommodating the best solution for your organisation. You can:
• Move to Office 365 subscription that includes the current Office applications suite;
• Regularly renew your Office applications suite by purchasing its current version;
• Renew your Office applications suite using 2-year Software Assurance Pack;
• Use browser or mobile apps to access Office Online.
