Police department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, seeking to ensure the availability, security and efficiency of the Unified Force Management System (VPVS) infrastructure, has signed a maintenance services contract with UAB BAIP. According to the contract, from the 21st of June BAIP continues to provide maintenance services of the VPVS infrastructure for another year. The implementation of the contract is funded by the 2013 Annual Programme of the European Union External Border Fund’s part the “Special Transit Scheme”.
VPVS system helps to ensure that the Police Department, Fire and Rescue Department, State Border Guard Service and Public Security Service cooperate while operatively reacting to unexpected situations related to transit, centralized coordination of operations and increasing the scope of the territory where the forces are managed. “We must react continuously and operatively, share information, coordinate the work of different departments. Even though clusters are already designed in the VPVS infrastructure to ensure high availability, it is vital to ensure appropriate maintenance and development of such systems. The system must be not only efficient, functional but also secure and quickly recoverable” – commented the head of the Police Information Management Department at the Police department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania Artūras Kavolis.
Maintenance services provided by BAIP include the entire VPVS infrastructure, ensuring the functioning of the VPVS and other software applications, both in test and production environments, including preventative maintenance, change management, response to critical incidents, data backup and recovery as well as IT consulting.
